SkillsCross 1-Day Course

Asbestos Hazard Awareness (Federal)

  • Do you know the risks associated with asbestos exposure? Do you know the potential locations and materials where asbestos might be present in your buildings? And if asbestos is present, is it, or is it not, a hazard to anyone? Do you have an Asbestos Management Plan? Do you need one? If you think your employees might have been exposed to asbestos, should they go for a chest x-ray? If you answered “no” or “I don’t know” to any one of these questions, this course is for you.

  • You will gain knowledge of:

    • When asbestos can be hazardous

    • Places and materials where asbestos might be found in the workplace

    • Duties of various workplace parties for asbestos management

    • Asbestos management practices

    • Regulatory requirements relating to asbestos work (including damage reporting, classification, repair, and clean-up)

  • Module 1 - Foundational Information About Asbestos

    Module 2 - Health Hazards

Module 3 - How Asbestos is Regulated in Canada

Module 4 - Introduction to the Asbestos Regulation for Construction and Buildings

Module 5 - Duties of Contractors

  • This course is for building and property managers, owners, facility operators, demolition companies, abatement companies, contractors, architects, and health and safety specialists working in federally regulated workplaces.

  • You may have heard that “one asbestos fibre can kill”. We doubt this is true, and so should you. The fact of the matter is that there are relatively few circumstances where concerns over asbestos are warranted. This is not a course where we try to frighten participants, or try to convince your organization to embark upon an expensive course of asbestos survey and abatement work. CrossSafety strives to provide up-to-date scientifically accurate and balanced information about asbestos hazards and risks, along with practical advice on ways of complying with regulatory obligations in the most cost-effective way achievable.
